Our Mission
EMBRACING THE MISSION (Matthew 28: 18-20)
A History of Grace
Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of faith and service since its founding on its original site, where it remains today. From its earliest days, strong pastoral leadership laid a firm spiritual foundation that continues to guide the church. A new sanctuary was constructed and dedicated in 1890, and in 1955 the current church building was completed, preparing the congregation for future growth.
Through the years, Mount Sinai has been shepherded by many devoted pastors whose leadership strengthened the church spiritually and numerically. Among them, Rev. O. W. Willis, Sr. is especially remembered for his extraordinary 60 years of faithful service, during which the church experienced significant growth and progress.
Following Pastor Willis Sr.’s passing in 1995, the church continued faithfully under its deacons and associate pastors. In 1996, Rev. William A. Caldwell, Jr. was appointed Senior Pastor, serving until his transition in 2022. Under his leadership, Mount Sinai celebrated major milestones, expanded its property, eliminated its mortgage, enhanced its facilities, and continued its mission of ministry and outreach.
In 2023, Rev. Ernest L. Scruggs was elected and installed as Senior Pastor. Under his leadership, the church continues to grow spiritually, ordain new leaders, and carry forward its rich legacy of faith, service, and dedication—ever marching forward in unity and hope.
